Bhangarh Fort, situated in the Alwar district of Rajasthan near Sariska Tiger Reserve, is one of India’s most intriguing historical sites. Built in the 16th century by Raja Madho Singh, the fort is admired for its Rajput-style architecture, grand gateways, temples, and palaces. However, Bhangarh is best known for the legends and ghost stories that surround it, making it popularly called the “most haunted place in India.”
According to folklore, the fort was cursed by a sage, leading to its mysterious abandonment. Today, it remains uninhabited, with visitors allowed only during daylight hours as entry is strictly prohibited after sunset.
Despite its eerie reputation, Bhangarh attracts thousands of tourists, photographers, and history enthusiasts each year. The fort’s majestic ruins, combined with the mystical aura of the Aravalli Hills, make it a must-visit destination for those exploring Rajasthan’s heritage, adventure tourism, and ghost tourism.
