Vaishno Devi Temple, situated near Katra in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, is among the holiest Hindu shrines in India. Dedicated to Maa Vaishno Devi, the temple is located at an altitude of about 5,200 feet in the Trikuta Hills. It is believed that Goddess Vaishno Devi fulfills the wishes of her devotees, which is why millions of pilgrims from across the country and abroad visit the shrine every year.
The journey to Vaishno Devi is considered as important as the darshan itself. Pilgrims undertake a 13-kilometer trek from Katra to the holy cave, passing through scenic mountains, chanting “Jai Mata Di.” For those unable to trek, options like pony rides, palanquins, electric vehicles, and helicopter services are available.
